Japanese Writing Club
Write the stories that matter to you — in Japanese.
Japanese Writing Club is an online writing community for Japanese learners.
You don’t just write for practice.
You write about your life, your memories, the people you care about, and the things that matter to you — and your writing is read by real Japanese readers living in Japan.
Write. Be read. Connect.
What happens in the club?
1. Get a writing theme
Every month, you’ll receive meaningful writing prompts.
For example:
-
Something you’re really into right now
-
Introduce your town to people in Japan!
-
A childhood memory
-
A personal essay etc...
You’ll also receive simple questions to help you develop your ideas.

2. Write your story in Japanese
You don’t need perfect Japanese.
The goal is not to write a perfect essay.
The goal is to express your own thoughts and experiences in your own Japanese.
3. Be read by Japanese readers
Your writing will be read by Japanese people living in Japan who are interested in international exchange.
They may share reactions such as:
“This part really stayed with me.”
“I’d love to hear more about this.”
“Your story reminded me of my own experience.”
This is not just correction.
It is the experience of having a real reader receive your words.

Write more. Get feedback. Grow your Japanese.
Your Japanese can reach someone.
Your writing doesn’t have to stay inside a textbook or notebook.
With your permission, selected works may also be introduced through MyU Japanese Academy projects or shared with community partners in Japan as part of cultural exchange activities.
We hope to create opportunities for stories written by Japanese learners to reach people in Japan — including different generations and local communities.
Participation in any public or community sharing is always optional.
Our Community Guidelines
Be curious. Be kind. Be yourself.
Japanese Writing Club is not a competition, and your Japanese doesn't have to be perfect.
When reading someone else's work, we value curiosity, kindness, and respect.
Instead of correcting each other's Japanese, let's share what we enjoyed, what surprised us, and what we'd love to know more about.
We are here to share our worlds — not to judge them.

Your words can travel.
A story written in Mexico may reach someone in Japan.
A child's words in Japan may reach someone on the other side of the world.
Write your world.
Choose what happens next.
