いつも、「わくわく」を感じている。
まいにち、「わくわく」を書きたい。
その「わくわく」で 世界とつながる。
I always feel a sense of wonder
— “Waku Waku.”
Every day, I want to write about it.
And through “Waku Waku,” I connect with the world.
About Myu
I'm Myu Yasuda, a Japanese writer and educator.
I love exploring new places, meeting new people, and discovering the words that have stayed in their hearts.
Over my 20-year career as a baseball journalist in Japan, I spent 15 years as an editor-in-chief and interviewed more than 1,000 high school and professional baseball players. Their practice journals inspired me to explore their dreams, struggles, and personal journeys, which I wove into a six-volume nonfiction series.
During my journalism career, I also started a creative writing school for elementary school children, which I've now been running for 10 years. I'm the author of おうちで作文教室 (Asuka Publishing).
Today, I write, teach Japanese at a language school, run creative writing programs, and explore language and self-expression through research.
What I love most is meeting people, discovering their stories, and turning those moments of Waku Waku into words.
Books & Publications
Over the years, I have authored and co-authored more than 15 books, including books about writing, children's education, sports, and nonfiction.

Grandma's Fruit Garden
くだものばあちゃんの庭
Three heartwarming stories inspired by a real grandmother in Japan.
Japanese Learner-Friendly: All kanji include furigana (reading guides), making the stories easier to read for Japanese language learners.
After spending 20 years writing nonfiction, I wanted to explore a new way of telling stories — blending fiction and nonfiction inspired by a real person.
Grandma's Fruit Garden was born from the life of a grandmother in Saku, Nagano, Japan, who tended her fruit garden until the age of 89.
Through three illustrated stories, the grandmother and the little visitors to her garden share funny, unexpected conversations that will make you chuckle and warm your heart.
The collection also includes the true story of the grandmother and her family, bringing together imagination and real-life memories.

Stories & Creative Work
🎧 Waku Waku Doki Doki~わくわく どきどき~
Real People. Passionate Stories. Unforgettable Words.
I interview people from around the world, exploring their passions, heartfelt stories, and unforgettable words.
Each interview becomes two Japanese-language audio stories: one in easy Japanese for beginners and another for advanced learners. I create and release four episodes every month.
This project brings together two things I love most: the excitement of meeting someone new and the joy of turning their story into words.
Read the stories behind the episodes on my blog.

Research & Journey
Exploring Language, Self-Expression, and Reflection.
In December 2026, I will travel to Uruguay to conduct research with Japanese language learners who practice martial arts.
My research compares how they express personal experiences, feelings, and reflections in their first language and in Japanese, focusing on differences in self-disclosure and introspection through reflective writing.
I'm fascinated by how the language we use may shape the way we express ourselves and reflect on our experiences.
For me, this research is also a journey of discovery — meeting new people, listening to their stories, and exploring the connection between language and the human experience.
Research Topic:
A Comparison of Self-Disclosure and Introspective Expression in First- and Second-Language Reflective Writing Among Martial Arts Practitioners: A Study of Japanese Language Learners in Uruguay.
Support My Research & Journey
I'm independently pursuing this research in Uruguay, driven by my curiosity about language, people, and the stories we carry.
If you'd like to support my journey of discovery, you can do so through Ko-fi.
Your support means a lot to me. Thank you!
